What’s the Difference?
When you set up your MetaTrader 5 account on Astropips, you’ll notice two types of passwords: the Trader Password and the Investor Password.
Both serve different purposes and it’s important to know when to use each and what kind of access they provide.
What is the Trader Password?
This is your main account password it gives you full access and control over your trading account.
With your Trader Password, you can:
-
Place and close trades
-
Modify open orders
-
Set stop loss and take profit levels
-
Manage your account activity in real-time
This password is for your eyes only. It’s personal, private, and essential for anyone who wants to actively manage trades.
What is the Investor Password?
The Investor Password is a read-only, view-only password perfect when you want to share your trading performance without giving anyone control over your account.
With this password, someone can:
-
View open/closed trades
-
Monitor real-time account activity
-
Analyze trading history
But they cannot:
-
Place trades
-
Modify orders
-
Make any changes to your account
It’s often used when sharing account performance with investors, fund managers, or signal subscribers, providing transparency without compromising security.
Final Reminder: Protect Both Passwords
While the Trader Password gives you full control and the Investor Password is view-only, both should be kept safe. Sharing the wrong one or sharing either too freely can put your account at risk.
